Nakiryu: Michelin Star Ramen in Tokyo

TLDR: If you have the time and LOVE ramen, I would say YES, it’s worth checking out.

If you love ramen, you need to try Nakiryu Ramen in Tokyo! The soup is so rich and flavorful; it's not like your average ramen shop. It's the perfect balance of salty, umami, and spicy.

I tried the shoyu ramen and the tan tan men, and both were amazing. The shoyu ramen is the cleanest shoyu base I've ever had. It's so well-balanced, and it doesn't taste heavy or oily at all. The tan tan men is also really good. The broth is thick, meaty, and nutty and clings to the thin noodles perfectly.

The restaurant is a little hard to get a table, but it's worth waiting if you have the time. Just be prepared to wait in line for a while. We arrived 40 minutes before opening on a Monday and still waited 1.5hrs. I heard some people saying that they waited 3 hours 😳. Not sure if it’s worth a 3-hour wait.

Here are some tips for visiting Nakiryu Ramen:

  • Go early: The restaurant opens at 11:30 am, so try to get there as early as possible to avoid the long lines.

  • Be patient: Bring a power bank to keep your phone charged while you watch a show or… maybe even a movie while you wait.

  • Try both the Shoyu and Tan Tan Men if you can. But if you can only choose one, then Tan Tan Men for sure.
